How to get the most from your yearly preventive visit
Your yearly preventive visit is one of the most valuable appointments of the year. A little preparation helps you get the most out of it.
Bring the essentials
Your insurance card, a photo ID and a list of all medications, vitamins and supplements you take.
Know your family history
Note any heart disease, stroke, diabetes or cancers in your parents and siblings, and the age they were diagnosed.
Check which screenings you are due for
Review our screening guide so you can ask about colorectal, breast, cervical or other screenings.
Write down your questions
It is easy to forget once you are in the exam room. A short list helps.
Ask about lab work
Some tests need fasting. We offer fasting blood tests on select days, so ask when you book.
Understand preventive vs. problem visits
Preventive care is often covered at no cost. If you also bring up new or ongoing problems, that part may be billed separately.
